My Posse in Effect, a tribute to the Beastie Boys, is excited to be rockin’ The 80s Cruise in 2024! This will be their first time onboard, so we asked them a few questions about their upcoming trip!
Welcome to your first 80s cruise! What are you looking forward to about joining The 80s Cruise?
We’re all looking forward to the destinations, the journey itself, and the opportunity of performing with all of these other legendary musicians, and getting to mingle with all of the interesting people that will be aboard attending the cruise. This is such an amazing opportunity, and we are super happy to be a part of it and we hope we can blow the crowd away with our live show.
Anyone in particular you are looking forward to seeing in 2024?
Oh man, it’s really like the whole lineup to be honest. 38 special, Soft Cell, Debbie Gibson, Sebastian Bach, Stephen Pearcy, Tommy Tutone, Wang Chung, and we definitely gotta see Ray Parker Junior! Who you gonna call?!
Tell us about your journey as a Beastie Boys tribute band. How did you get started, and what inspired you to pay tribute to the Beastie Boys’ music?
We were all fans of the Beastie Boys growing up and we have our own original projects, but we decided to come together for what was supposed to be a one time show as a Beastie Boys tribute, and we ended up selling it out and breaking the bar sales record for the venue which had been open for years. The program Director for the local alternative station put us on a festival called Way Back Pointfest, and the show offers just kept rolling in so we decided to do it full-time and take the show on the road, and now look at us, getting ready to take the show out on the high seas!
The Beastie Boys were known for their dynamic stage presence. How do you incorporate their live energy and charisma into your performances?
We bring a high energy show disguised as a party, and we play all of the hits spanning over decades of their groundbreaking music, you get not just three highly skilled emcees and literally one of the worlds best DJs, you get a full band that knows how to get funky, along with props and costume changes, and all kinds of other surprises. Ask around, this is the best Beastie Boys Tribute on the face of the planet and you got us baby!
