Information Society Q&A

Information Society

Paul, Kurt, and James have performed together as InSoc for over 40 years, that is truly remarkable in the music industry. Any secrets to working together that long that you can share with us?

40 years is indeed a long time! I think what maintained our longevity and the ability to have fun with it was the fact that we took most of the period from 1995-2005 off and we all pursued our different life interests. Coming back to the band in the 2000s, we’ve been able to enjoy our “band time” more because Information Society isn’t the only thing in our lives that we care about, or are interested in. It may seem counter-intuitive, but taking the band less seriously has allowed us to get a lot more out of it.

The 80s was an amazing decade, what’s one thing you are glad you left behind then and what’s one thing you would like to see come back?

Can’t say I miss 80s hairstyles, but I do miss the sense of playful optimism that pop culture had back then.

You originally sailed on The 80s Cruise in 2017, any particular memories from that event? What are you looking forward to when you join The 80s Cruise again in 2025?

What stays with me from that cruise was seeing Cheap Trick for the first time, and also the Star Trek trivia night that was hosted by our singer Kurt Larson, and our VJ Falcotronik. Fun times!
